Glamglow YouthMud Mask

Image-2.png

A few weeks ago I was kindly contacted by the lovely people at GlamGlow as they wanted to send me a little gift in the post! I didn’t know which mask I was going to receive which was a nice surprise but I actually was hoping for the YouthMud which is the black one, and luckily that’s the one that came through the letterbox! I’ve been seeing these masks all over Instagram just lately and was really intrigued by them and definitely wanted to give them a try myself and see what the hype was all about and if they were worth it! So let’s dive straight in…

A little more about the YouthMud..

My thoughts and experience using the mask…

First of all as soon as I started to squeeze the mask on to the back of my hand ready to dip my mask brush in, I got a really nice whiff of a lovely fresh and clean scent that I just couldn’t wait to slather all over my face. I noticed it looked very similar to The Body Shop’s Himalayan Charcoal Mask which is one of my all time favourites, so I was looking forward to comparing the two.

The instructions for the mask say to use a thin even layer all over the face and usually I ignore that and go for something slightly thicker but this time I had no choice! While I was applying the mask I immediately felt a tingle on my skin which was expected as it’s called ‘tingle exfoliate treatment’ I’m pretty used to that by now from other face masks and was nothing uncomfortable, the mask was just doing it’s job! The mask has pieces in just like the Himalayan charcoal but a little smaller and skinnier, but they can fly everywhere while applying and while removing too.

By the time the 20 minutes were up I was ready to take the mask off as it dries down and gets uncomfortable and can be itchy in places but that’s just due to the type of mask. When removing the mask I wet my hands with warm water and used a circular motion on my face to help loosen the mask and free my face from being so tight. I then carried this on to use the mask as an exfoliator before removing it completely which is also what it’s designed for. This worked really well and definitely felt like it was removing all my dead skin as well as cleaning deep into my pores. I’m all for a 2-in-1 product so this was definitely a bonus for me!

After exfoliating my skin and then completely removing the mask I noticed my skin looking a lot brighter and my redness was definitely reduced too and I had a more even skin tone. My skin felt so clean and fresh but also still slightly tight. I definitely felt like I needed to moisturise immediately to help add some moisture and relieve some of the tightness from my skin. When I applied my moisturiser it felt so fresh on my skin!

My final thoughts on the GlamGlow Youthmud…

Overall I definitely enjoyed this mask. It’s very similar to my absolute favourite Body Shop mask the Himilayan Charcoal so I won’t rush to buy the full size but I would definitely like to have it in my little mask collection in the future as I really enjoyed using it and is still slightly different. I have noticed the full size masks are 50g and £39 whereas The Body Shop one is 75ml (grams and millilitres convert to the same) and is £16 meaning the Himalayan Charcoal is actually cheaper with more product but I do think you use more of the Himilayan Charcoal with one use compared to the GlamGlow. I would definitely like to try out some of the other GlamGlow masks to compare each one too and they also do cleansers!

What do you guys think, have any of you tried this or any of the other products from GlamGlow?

I’ve seen glamglow everywhere lately! They look so good, love that it reduces redness. What a great review Ellie! I like that you compared it to the bodyshop one, I think for now I’d rather but the bodyshop one as it’s cheaper haha xxx
