Some of you may already know now that I have combination skin which is quite blemish prone recently. I love trying out new skincare and seeing what works for me, especially if it’s aims are to help achieve a clear and spot-free complexion which is exactly what T-Zone claims to do! It’s also a super affordable skincare brand which is always a bonus but I was actually very lucky as the brand kindly contacted me to send me some of their products to try and test.
There are 8 products in the new Bamboo & Charcoal range which includes; a black peel off mask, black cleansing wipes, a pack of 6 nose pore strips, a deep cleansing face scrub, an ultra-purifying face wash, a self-heating mask, some no-shine pore papers and a pack of 12 nose pore strips.
The main ingredients in the range include Activated Charcoal to absorb impurities and excess oils, Bamboo Extract to control an oily t-zone and leave skin shine-free and Grapefruit Extract to refresh and purify the skin. All of this sounding perfect for my skin type, I couldn’t wait to give the products a go! So let’s take a look at what I received and my thoughts on each product…
Ultra Purifying Face Wash | £3.25
First up we have the Ultra Purifying Face Wash which I have been using daily in the mornings and in the evenings after removing my make-up with my micellar water. You wet your face with warm water and then pump some face wash out and massage into your skin in a circular motion before rinsing off thoroughly and patting your face dry. You don’t need a lot of product at all to cover your whole face and get a nice lather to massage into your skin. It leaves my skin feeling really clean and like it’s really done it’s job unclogging my pores as well as helping balance out my oily skin. Using this face wash twice daily has definitely helped with clearing my spots and I’ve really enjoyed using it. It’s really quick and easy especially with the simple pump dispenser and the fact you only need a small amount to cover your whole face means that it will last a long time. The fact you get 200ml for £3.25 is an absolute bargain too.
Black Cleansing Wipes | £2.99
The best thing about these cleansing wipes for me is that they’re actually black and look really cool as I’ve never seen black cleansing wipes before! Unfortunately that’s were it ends for me with these though for a couple of different reasons. First of all, in the last couple of years, I have completely gone off the idea of these type of wipes as I just think they’re not good for your skin in general. These wipes are designed to remove makeup and cleanse the skin but on my skin they were much too harsh. I don’t know if I have slightly sensitive skin but it felt like I was rubbing sand paper on my face and it actually caused a little bit of a sting too and I was being pretty gentle with them. I since haven’t been able to use them. I also don’t recommend using only wipes to remove your makeup and cleanse your skin at the same time, a lot of the time wipes don’t remove all of your makeup and they don’t do much good for looking after your skin either. I think these might be okay to use before using a cleanser, but not if you have sensitive skin at all.
12 Nose Pore Strips | £5.99
Last of all I received a box of 12 Nose Pore Strips which I was really excited about. I’ve never actually used these types of strips before but I’ve wanted to for awhile so you can only imagine my excitement! To use these strips, you remove your makeup, cleanse your skin and then wet your nose before peeling the strip off the plastic backing and applying the smooth side to your nose and leaving it for 5-10 minutes. If the strip is painful when trying to remove, you wet the strip thoroughly and carefully peel it off. I recommend using these after a shower or bath for the best results and also after using a facial scrub to remove any dead skin so you can really see what comes off when removing the nose strip. I do suffer quite badly with dreaded black heads around my nose and when using these, they really do work! I was weirdly excited to see some black heads on the strip when I removed it! I also suffer with black heads down the side of my nose and on my chin, so I use the strips in these areas too. The strip fitted perfectly on my chin and to use it down the sides of my nose I simply cut one in half so I had half for each side which worked really well too! I do have a little bit of pain when peeling them off sometimes but nothing really bad or unbearable and it wasn’t even so bad that I felt like I needed to wet the strip before peeling it off. I definitely had to lather moisturiser on to the areas I used the strips though as they can become a little dry afterwards.
Overall I really enjoy using these products and will continue to do so and will most definitely repurchase the facial wash and nose strips! I also really want to try some of the other products in the range as well. I would say that these products can cause your skin to become a little drier than usual as their aim is to help remove dirt, impurities and balance out any oiliness but a good moisturiser and/or serum will definitely help to balance this out if it does become a problem. They’re such good value for money and available in Superdrug so super easy to get hold of too!
What do you think, have you tried any of this range or had your eye on anything?
