5 Products That Disappointed Me

Sometimes products are disappointing, whether they’re hyped up or you’ve just had your eye on them for a while, but they just don’t live up to expectations. And that’s okay. I love all of these brands, and some of them have some of my favourite products, but these ones, they just didn’t work for me.

1. L’Oréal True Match Foundation

I’ve heard so many people raving about this foundation time and time again so it was about time I tried it for myself. Since falling in love with the L’Oréal Infallible foundation, I thought maybe all L’Oréal’s foundations are amazing? So I based my shade selection on my other foundation and the shade I picked wasn’t too bad. But this foundation I don’t think was made for those of us with oily skin. When I have this on, my skin honestly looks ridiculous, the shiniest of all the shinys, it looks completely wet and I hate it. A complete hot mess, It’s a no from me. If you have oily or combination skin and this works for you, please tell me your secret. Maybe i’ll have to give it a try in the colder months when my skin is a little less oily and a little more on the dry side.

2. Revlon Eyeliner Pencil

Another day another eyeliner pencil that doesn’t last on my water line. But this one was something else. It literally disappeared completely after about an hour and that is just ridiculous. And that is all I have to say about it, just why?!

3. Nyx Lip Lingerie in Lace Detail

I wanted to try some Nyx lip products for the longest time, everyone always says they’re so good for affordable drugstore lipsticks. My local Boots finally got a Nyx counter, so off I went for a browse and I was SO overwhelmed by choice, even just in the lip department. I finally chose a type and a shade and went with the Lingerie in Lace Detail. The shade just does not suit me at all, it almost just makes my lips look dirty? I really don’t like it. The formula also seems really thick and heavy and I don’t think I could cope with having it on my lips anyway. A little disappointing for £7 though.

4. Aussie Miracle Moist Shampoo

Another product I’ve heard a lot of people say is amazing for the price, this just doesn’t work for me. I love the scent and the lather it creates but unfortunately it leaves me with a very itchy scalp. The regular conditioner and the leave in spray conditioner is completely fine but the shampoo on my scalp I just can’t get along with. So annoying when I actually really like everything else about it.

5. The Ordinary High Spreadability Primer

I jumped on the hype pretty early with The Ordinary and picked up a few products which I’m yet to talk about as I’m still not sure how I feel about them and some I still haven’t got round to trying. This however I have tried and tested and concluded that it just doesn’t work for me. Another product which I think just isn’t really suited for oily/combination skin as it just seems to slide around my face and not really do much? It definitely doesn’t prolong the wear time of my makeup that’s for sure. I really wanted to love it and the packaging is so nice but I just can’t. I do have the other primer from The Ordinary though but I haven’t tried it yet, so I’m hoping that one will be much better for my skin type.

So there we have it, five products that unfortunately just didn’t work for me! If you have any tips on how to get these to work a little better definitely let me know and i’ll give them another go!

Sorry you had so many disappointing products! I’ve not actually tried any L’Oréal foundations, I tend to go for a light coverage so usually stick to tinted moisturisers. Having a slippy shiny face not on the agenda though!

I too want to try the NYX lip lingerie, I quickly looked last week but didn’t have time to choose properly. As you say £7.99 so you want to get the right shade. Hard to pick the right one though!

I haven’t tried the others you mention so can’t comment on those!

Perfect post, very useful to know.

I only recently started trying some L’oreal ones and fell in love with Infallible so thought I would give another one a go and can definitely say I wish I didn’t bother! But I definitely prefer more medium-full coverage.
Honestly even though it was the wrong shade I really didn’t like the formula so I’m not sure I would even try any of the others in the same range. But hopefully you’ll find the perfect shade!
Ah thank you lovely I’m really glad you enjoyed it! xx

It sucks that Aussie Miracle Moist shampoo didn’t work for you, it’s my holy grail shampoo! I’ve never tried this L’Oréal foundation but I have super dry skin so I think I might love it!

What skin type do you have? I couldn’t believe how oily it made me it was so horrible! x

You need to try more of the ordinary products, they aren’t disappointing! I don’t really get along with the L’Oreal True Match foundation either!

I loved this kind of post!

I have the other primer and a couple of other bits but I haven’t tried them all properly yet! I just couldn’t get on with this primer but I definitely want to try the other bits!
The True Match is so strange isn’t it! Do you have oily or combination skin too?
Aw yay I’m so glad you enjoyed it! x
