I was looking through my selection of lipsticks and noticed that I actually have a fair few autumnal shades even though I’m definitely an everyday nude kinda girl. So I thought I would share with you my 10 Autumnal Lip Picks and talk a little about each one and then a full arm of swatches will be coming at the end!
First up we have my favourite metallic lip shade, this gorgeous Jouer Cosmetics liquid lipstick in ‘Snapdragon‘ which is a lovely frosty plum shade. It looks so beautiful on and as its a Jouer liquid lipstick it lasts for hours and is really comfortable too.
Then we have this gorgeous taupe toned purple in the shade ‘Ecstasy‘ from Gerard Cosmetics Hydra Matte range which I definitely need to start reaching for more often. It’s such a nice comfortable formula of liquid lipstick and a really unique shade in my opinion.
Then we have a more brown shade from Coloured Raine ‘Mars‘. The actual description of this liquid lipstick is that it’s dusty rose but I would have to disagree with that as it definitely comes out more brown. Nevertheless it’s still really pretty and can be turned into a more dusty rose shade with the right lip liner underneath, I’ve heard a good one to try for that is Revlon’s plum lip liner which I still need to get my hands on!
Next up we have another liquid lipstick from Gerard Cosmetics which is in the shade ‘Cher‘. This one is described as being a muted purple but I think it’s a really pretty purpley/red kind of shade leaning a little more towards being red. It really is the perfect autumn lip.
Next is the shade ‘Seductress‘ by La Splash which is pretty similar to Cher but a slightly more deep red. Another liquid lipstick that I would say is a little less long wearing than the Gerard Cosmetics one but still pretty good.
Then we have one of my favourite MAC Cosmetics lipstick shades that I only really wear in the autumn/winter months but it’s so so pretty and hydrating too which can be a good alternative when your lipsticks are a little drier and need a break from liquid lipsticks. This is in the shade ‘Plumful‘ which as the name suggests is rose-plum shade and is in a Lustre finish which is not something I usually go for as it’s a little more shiny and sheer. Even though it’s a lustre finish though it has pretty good wear time unless you’re eating which is the same as all of the other lipsticks in this post and that’s something I really like about it.
Another shade from MAC Cosmetics, next up is ‘Rebel‘ which is quite a striking creamy plum shade which is a lot more pigmented than Plumful as it has a satin finish. I mostly wear this lipstick on a night out as it’s quite ‘out-there’ for me when it’s on my lips but if you’re daring enough it would look gorgeous in the day time too.
sticking to MAC Cosmetics with the shade Mehr. This is more of a nude but slightly darker and more pink which is why I’ve decided to include it in this post. On MAC’s website it’s actually described as a ‘dirty blue pink’ but I dunno, I don’t really get what that means? Either way it’s really pretty and will go with any look. I’m pretty sure it will look good on anyone and it’s so so comfortable too I love how it wears.
The next shade is my first Vice Lipstick from Urban Decay which I absolutely love in the shade ‘Backtalk‘. This one actually looks a lot different on my lips than it does in the swatch. On my lips it’s a lot more like a dusty rose pink shade like it does in the bullet. It’s so so pretty and is a Comfort Matte which is the perfect way to describe it as it’s so so comfortable and creamy but still true to a matte lipstick. I definitely need more of these!
Finally we have one from Colourpop in the shade ‘Bumble‘. This one is a gorgeous red which also has hints of burnt orange in which just screams autumn to me! It’s one of the Ultra Matte Liquid Lipsticks which aren’t some peoples faves and they are a bit more drying than I would like but I think they’re fine if you either don’t plan on wearing it all day or if you really prep your lips before you apply.
In the same order as above, here are all of the swatches;
So there we have it, my autumnal lipstick picks! What are your favourite shades for autumn?
