I acquired a lot of makeup in 2017 either from buying it myself or through gifts (mostly from my boyfriend) but what I did notice is that there were a few brands that quickly became new favourites and every time they release something new I’m sat here wondering whether I can justify the purchase or if not now, when I can get my hands on it.
1. Huda Beauty
I have become a total Huda Beauty convert. After everyone raving about the liquid lipsticks for so long and me putting off buying any, I finally picked up the Love Nude Collection minis for my first Huda purchase (read more about those here) and I definitely understood the hype. After that nothing really caught my eye until images of the Desert Dusk palette started circling and it looked so beautiful. With the wide variety of shades and textures it was so unique and I knew I had to have it even though it was pretty pricey and I’d never tried any of their eyeshadows before. Anyway I picked it up on my trip to Sephora in Paris and fell in love once again, the eyeshadows are so stunning, pigmented, blend-able and just totally beautiful, some of the best I’ve ever tried and definitely worth the price tag. Then when the new Obsessions palettes came out I wanted to get my hands on those too so I now have the Mauve Obsessions and Warm Brown Obsessions and the quality is just as amazing as the Desert Dusk palette as well as all of the shades being totally stunning too. So Huda Beauty is now my current number 1 brand for eyeshadows, I am definitely hooked.
2. Charlotte Tilbury
Next up is definitely a favourite for many but I have to say it took me so long to finally try some Charlotte Tilbury products due to the price tag as they’re so expensive. Most of you will probably already know that they’re definitely worth it though and even the packaging of the products are to die for. After so much hype around the Pillow Talk matte revolution lipstick I knew I wanted to try it so that, the matching lip liner, the Hollywood Lips liquid lipstick in Rising Star and the Chic to Chic blush in Love Glow was my first ever order, which my lovely boyfriend paid for most of as a little gift. I absolutely loved it all and have since purchased and received more products as gifts too. The packaging and the quality of the products is just beautiful and not like any other and I just love them. The lipsticks and blushers have to be my favourites but I’m yet to try much else just yet so that could definitely change!
3. Fenty Beauty
Next up has got to be Fenty Beauty. Mostly for the fact I have completely fallen back in love with the Pro Filtr primer and foundation (more about that here) but also just for the pure fact of how much of a great brand it is becoming. The Galaxy collection is simply stunning, the products are all gorgeous and the newest releases are so unique along with the fact the range of shades in the foundation still amazes me. I love the look of the new mattemoiselle lipsticks but I also know I wouldn’t be daring enough to wear any of the colourful shades, but they’re so unique and I’m sure there will be people out there that have been waiting for something like this to come along for so long. I just can’t wait to see what 2018 brings for Fenty Beauty.
So there we have it, my top 3 brands of 2017. What have you been loving over the past year? Shop some of my favourites below…
