Hi everyone, with Mother’s Day just a couple of weeks away Ellie invited me to post on her blog. As a mum of three grown up children it’s nice to be able to spoil myself now and again, after all the years of putting my family first. My treat is to have my nails done and a facial every few weeks, which makes me feel special. I also enjoy the occasional spa day with Ellie, giving us chance to spend some time together and get pampered at the same time.
Sadly, my own mum is no longer here for me to spoil but there’s no nicer feeling than giving someone a gift you know they will love. My mother-in-law is 86 and still loves to receive beauty products and shares a favourite brand with me, we’re both fans of Liz Earle beauty products. If you can keep a secret, I’ve already bought her the ‘Home and Away’ kit for Mother’s Day as she’s going on holiday in the summer and the sizes are great for travelling. They’re also great trial sizes for anyone who hasn’t tried the products before.
It’s more years than I’d like to admit since I first tried Liz Earle. After teenage years of struggling with oily skin and outbreaks of spots my skin began to change, once I’d had children. It became less oily, then more sensitive and now it’s dry and reacts to the seasons, especially as I’m out in all weather walking the dog. What makes it special for me is the beautiful botanicals that are used and the calming effect they have on your skin. It is available for different skin types and the absolute must have is ‘Cleanse & Polish’, which leaves your face feeling beautifully clean and soft. Teamed with the ‘Instant Boost Skin Tonic’ and ‘Skin Repair Moisturiser’ it’s all I need whatever the season.
Now we all know that mums know best and they may already have their own favourite skincare range that they can’t be swayed from. If that’s the case and you want to surprise them why not try the Liz Earle bodycare? It’s not something I use all of the time but when it’s part of a set or on special offer I try to treat myself to it. The ‘Botanical Body Washes’ and ‘Botanical Body Creams’ are amazing and suitable for the most sensitive of skin. I have used the orange flower many times but only just tried the rosemary & rock rose and I absolutely love it. It’s such a feminine but delicate fragrance.
Mother’s Day is our chance to say thank you for all the things our mums do for us, no matter how old we are. Some of the most treasured things are the simplest and I still have a little scroll that Ellie made me when she was in primary school. I won’t embarrass her by telling you what it says but it still makes me smile when I read the words of the little girl she once was and yes it mentions beauty and make-up, so no change there.
Whether you take my advice and treat your mum to some beauty products, buy her a scented candle, chocolates or flowers, cook her a nice meal or take her out for afternoon tea, I’m sure she will love it. But remember to tell her you love her as that’s the best thing that a mum can wish for.
